Fizzy Fraise : Clairette de Die to refresh your summers.

Summer is usually about brunch and barbeque parties with the sun and the most usual requirement for such summer parties is refreshing oneself and keeping the energy flowing. Sangria is one such common and rather clichéd refreshments with wine and fruits. But how about a bit of change, a refreshing fruity drink to kick off the summers, but a bit uncommon and purely going French with it. Speaking for myself, I prefer white wine to red in the summers, mainly when the wine is chilled. So here is a drink made with a typical French sparkling white wine called the Clairette de Die.

Detoxify with Cherry, Strawberry Detox water.

Detox water is now in vogue and there is a lot of talk making rounds on it, its benefits and nutritional values. One thing is for sure, whether its benefits are real or not, it is one of those remedies which cannot have side effects. So what is detox water? To start with, it mainly is a water and fresh fruit based drink that is used either for flushing out toxins from the body or as some suggest, can be used for weight loss. By toxins I mean the external ones such as pesticides, environmental pollution or the internal toxins caused due to the metabolism or other cellular secretions.

Galette a la maison : Buckwheat crepes in traditional French style

A galette or to be more specific a Breton galette (originating from the Brittany region of France) is a thin pancake made with buckwheat flour usually with a savory filling. Buckwheat is not related to wheat rather is related to sorrel, knotweed and rhubarb. The seeds are rich in complex carbohydrates and being non-grass it is a pseudocereal. Like crepes the perfect galettes are really thin and slightly crispy. There can be many different methods of making galettes and even various equipments extending up to commercial crepe makers. But the true and traditional method of making the perfect galettes is the one prevalent in the little corners of the Brittany region of France. This recipe is such a recipe which I came across during my recent trip to the region and perfected with some tips from the locals. Here I have not used any special equipment and you can easily succeed in making this thin delightful crepes at your home.
